Stonemason in Dublin — granite and limestone wall repair, brick repointing, restoration and cladding across the city and county.
Dublin is built on stone — the famous Dublin granite in walls, steps and gate piers, the limestone on its public buildings, and street after street of period red-brick houses. Keeping all of that sound is exactly what we do.
Across the city and county we repoint and repair granite and limestone walls, repoint period brickwork in lime mortar, rebuild collapsed and leaning boundary walls, restore weathered granite steps and gate piers, and carry out conservation work in Dublin's many conservation areas. For extensions and modern homes we also fit natural-stone cladding and build new stone walls and entrances.
We work right across Dublin — from the older suburbs and Georgian and Victorian terraces to the newer estates on the city's edge. We'll arrange a free site visit and give you a clear, itemised quote before any work begins.
A recent Dublin job shows the kind of restoration we take on. Two chimneys on the one property had been left too long: the mortar joints had opened up and were crumbling away, the chimney tops had started to break apart, and cracks had opened in the brickwork that would only have widened with each winter.
We took both chimneys back to a sound base and rebuilt them properly. All the old, failed mortar was raked out and the brickwork cleaned down, then fully repointed. The tops were rebuilt and re-haunched so they shed water the way they should, and the cracked sections were stitched with stainless-steel helical bars — bonded into the joints to tie the brickwork back together and stop the cracks from moving.
The result: two sound, weathertight chimneys that will stand for decades instead of needing patched again in a couple of winters. The full restoration of both came to €13,500 — a real, itemised price for a job done properly once, rather than a quick patch.

Kimmage Hardware · Google reviewYes — chimney work is one of the most common jobs we do in Dublin. The city's older red-brick terraces have a lot of chimney stacks, and being up high they take the worst of the weather, so their mortar and tops fail first. We repoint them, rebuild and re-haunch the tops so they shed water properly, and crack-stitch with stainless-steel helical bars where the brickwork has moved.
Yes. We repoint period brickwork in lime mortar — the correct material for these houses — so the brick stays breathable and the pointing lasts, rather than cracking like hard cement does.
