We're stonemasons working in Slane on heritage and conservation stonework, period walls and traditional lime-mortar repointing in one of Meath's most historic villages. Free site visits.
Slane is a heritage village through and through, from the four Georgian houses at the crossroads to Slane Castle, the Hill of Slane and the stone walls running down to the Boyne. Much of the stonework here is old and worth doing properly, so our focus is conservation: careful repair, lime-mortar repointing and traditional methods that respect how these walls and buildings were originally put together.
We work on period boundary walls, entrances and pillars, and restoration of older stone where it's worn or failing. On buildings like these the wrong mortar or a rushed repair can cause real damage, so we take a steady, traditional approach. With 20+ years and full insurance, we're used to working sympathetically on older and protected stonework around the village.

Alan Bow · Google review"I would like to thank this firm for the stonework on a large project. Both the work and the employees were of the highest quality and did more than expected of them. I would highly recommend this company."
Kimmage Hardware · Google reviewYes. A lot of Slane's stonework is historic, so we work sympathetically: matching the original stone and mortar, repointing in lime and keeping the character of the wall or building. We're happy to talk through the right approach for an older or protected property before anything starts.
We can. We rake out the old failed mortar by hand where needed and repoint with a lime mix and finish in keeping with the wall's age. The aim is a sound, weathertight wall that still looks original, which matters a lot on Slane's older streets and roadside walls.
Usually yes. We source stone close to the original and reuse what we can from the wall itself, then lay and point it to match the existing work. On heritage stonework that matching matters, so we take the time to get the look and the mortar right.
