We carry out stone wall repair, lime-mortar repointing and heritage restoration in and around Kells. Free site visit anywhere in the area, no obligation.
Kells is one of Meath's great heritage towns, known for its round tower, the monastic site at St Columba's and the high crosses. A lot of the older property here is built from local limestone, and much of it needs proper care rather than a quick fix. We work with lime mortar and traditional methods so repairs sit right with the original stone and let the wall breathe.
We're stonemasons based in nearby Navan with over twenty years at this trade, fully insured, and the owner is on the tools with his team. Around Kells we handle everything from crumbling boundary walls and old farmhouse gables to conservation work on period buildings. We also cover the villages around the town, including Carlanstown, Crossakiel, Moynalty and out towards Oldcastle.
If you've an old wall that's losing its pointing or stone, we'll come out, look at it honestly and tell you what it actually needs.

Alan Bow · Google review"I would like to thank this firm for the stonework on a large project. Both the work and the employees were of the highest quality and did more than expected of them. I would highly recommend this company."
Kimmage Hardware · Google reviewYes. A lot of Kells property is old limestone that was built with lime mortar, not cement. We repoint and repair using lime mortar and traditional methods so the wall keeps breathing and the work matches the original. We're happy to talk through what a heritage or period building actually needs before any work starts.
Old stone walls were built to move and breathe. Cement traps moisture and is too hard, which pushes damp and damage into the soft old stone. Lime mortar lets the wall dry out and flex, so it protects the stone instead of harming it. On older Kells buildings it's nearly always the right call.
