Traditional stonemasons working in Carrickmacross and the Monaghan drumlin country, repairing field walls, period houses and Georgian streetscapes with lime mortar.
Carrickmacross is a fine Monaghan town with a Georgian streetscape and a long history, set in rolling drumlin country dotted with stone field walls and older farmhouses. Much of the stonework around here is rural and well weathered, and a lot of what we do locally is repointing and repairing walls that have lost their mortar over decades. We work in lime mortar on older stone, using traditional methods that match how these walls were originally built.
We also rebuild collapsed or leaning sections, tidy up field and boundary walls, and carry out conservation work on period houses in and around the town. Stone is part of the character of this part of Monaghan, and our aim is to keep repairs sympathetic so they look right rather than patched. We are fully insured, have over 20 years of experience, and are glad to call out and have a proper look.

Kimmage Hardware · Google reviewYes, that is a big part of our work in this area. The drumlin country around Carrickmacross is full of stone field and boundary walls. We repoint, rebuild and stabilise them using traditional methods and lime mortar, keeping the look in character.
Yes. Carrickmacross has a handsome Georgian streetscape, and older buildings like these need careful, breathable repairs. We use lime mortar and traditional techniques on heritage stonework and pointing.
We rake out the old, failed mortar by hand, clean the joints, then repoint with a suitable lime mortar packed in well and finished to match the wall. Done properly it protects the stone and sheds water correctly.
