This page explains what information we collect when you use buildingexperts.ie, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We've written it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.
Who we are
L&A Building Experts Ltd is a stone masonry and building contractor based in Navan, Co Meath, Ireland. We are the data controller for the information described on this page.
If you have any question about your information, or want it removed, contact us:
- Email: info@buildingexperts.ie
- Phone: 086 066 6591
Information you give us
When you fill in a quote or contact form on this site, we collect what you type into it:
- your name;
- your phone number;
- your email address, if you give one (it's optional on most of our forms);
- any description of the work you add;
- details such as your town, service required or timeline, where the form asks for them;
- any photographs or PDF files you choose to upload of your wall, chimney or building.
We use this only to understand your enquiry, reply to you, arrange a site visit and prepare a quotation. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for marketing lists.
What happens to it
When you submit a form, the details are emailed to our office and also saved on our website's hosting server so that an enquiry is never lost if an email fails to arrive. Uploaded photographs are stored on that same server. If you give us an email address, our system sends you an automatic acknowledgement so you know your enquiry arrived.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we record some technical information about visits so we can see which pages are useful and whether the site is working properly.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| IP address | Recorded with form submissions and page visits for security, spam prevention and basic location (country/area) reporting. |
| Pages viewed, referring page, time on page | To understand which pages help people and which don't. |
| Device type, browser, operating system, screen size, language | To make sure the site works on the devices people actually use. |
| A randomly generated visitor and session identifier | To count a repeat visit as one person rather than many, stored in your browser. |
| Actions such as clicking the phone number, starting or submitting a form | To see whether people can actually get in touch easily. |
This analytics data is collected by our own software on our own server. The identifiers above are random — they are not linked to your name unless you separately send us an enquiry.
Cookies and browser storage
We use a small amount of browser storage (cookies and local storage) for:
- Essential functions — remembering your session while you move through our quote form.
- Analytics — the random visitor/session identifiers described above.
- Google services — Google Tag Manager, Google Fonts and, on some pages, Google reCAPTCHA may set their own cookies or receive your IP address when those services load.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking them will not stop you using the site, phoning us or sending an enquiry.
Other services we use
- Our web hosting provider — stores the website, your form submissions and uploaded photographs.
- Email — enquiries are delivered to our business mailbox.
- Google — Tag Manager and Google Fonts load on most pages, and reCAPTCHA (spam protection) on some. These are operated by Google, which may process data outside the European Economic Area under its own safeguards.
- OpenStreetMap — supplies the map tiles on our Areas We Cover page.
- WhatsApp — only if you choose to tap our WhatsApp link, which opens WhatsApp's own service.
Why we're allowed to hold it
- To answer your enquiry and quote for work — because you asked us to, and because we have a legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
- For security and spam prevention — our legitimate interest in keeping the site working and free of abuse.
- For basic analytics — our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details and any photographs you send for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry, carry out any work that follows, and keep normal business and tax records. After that we delete them. If you'd like your enquiry and photos removed sooner, just email us and we'll do it.
Your rights
Under data protection law you can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete it;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- provide a copy of it.
Email info@buildingexperts.ie and we'll deal with it. You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
Security
The site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection and form submissions, including uploaded photographs, are sent over that encrypted connection. We restrict who can access enquiry records. No website can promise perfect security, so we don't make that claim — but we take reasonable steps to protect what you send us.
Children
This site is aimed at property owners and construction professionals. It is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
Have a question about your information, or want an enquiry deleted? Email info@buildingexperts.ie or call 086 066 6591.
